November 5, 2017

Tomorrow marks an historic time for tax reform, the day in which the House Ways and Means Committee will begin its four-day markup of Chairman Kevin Brady’s (R-TX) mark of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1). It is expected that Chairman Brady will release an amended version of his Chairman’s Mark before the long-awaited markup begins tomorrow at noon.

Today, House Republican tax writers began presenting amendments on the Chairman’s Mark before its scheduled release tomorrow. Throughout the weekend, NAEA’s Government Relations Committee closely examined the most recent version of the Chairman’s Mark and the various provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act before submitting comments to the Ways and Means Committee earlier this evening.

On behalf of over 53,000 enrolled agents and the great work from NAEA’s Government Relations Committee, we are pleased to have had the opportunity to work with the members of the Ways and Means Committee on this important step towards simplifying and reforming our nation’s tax code.

NAEA’s formal comments can be found below. Should you have any questions or comments relating to the formal comment letter submitted to the Ways and Means Committee on the provisions included in Tax Cuts and Jobs Act or Chairman’s Mark, you may email Justin Edwards, NAEA’s Associate Director of Government Relations (jedwards@naea.org).

We look forward to continuing to update the NAEA membership on these important government relations efforts while NAEA works with Congress and the administration on simplifying and reforming the complexity of our nation’s tax code.

Sincerely,

James R. Adelman, EA
President
National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA)
