July 30 – August 1, 2018
Stay on August 2 for the NAEA Board Meeting
2018 NAEA National Conference Featuring NTPI
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
Register online Early bird ends June 29
The annual NAEA National Conference has something for everyone—from newer tax practitioners to those who’ve grown up in the business. We expect more than 600 tax professionals to join us for the annual event that brings America’s Tax Experts® from across the country together for best-in-class continuing tax education. For EAs, any of the tracks will complete all your required CE for the year, including ethics!
Most attendees choose to participate in the National Tax Practice Institute™ (NTPI®)—a three-level education program that covers all facets of representing clients before the IRS—to sharpen their skills and to attain their NTPI Fellow® designation. NTPI courses are open to enrolled agents, CPAs, and tax attorneys.
More than 3,000 tax practitioners have already achieved this noteworthy milestone and continue their education by attending the Graduate Level in Representation courses. The NTPI Committee ensures fresh material every year for the many that return to this track, year after year. Others opt to attend the Tax Preparation Issues track. Distinct from the NTPI curriculum, this track provides practical preparation information to practitioners at an intermediate to advanced level.
What’s New This Year?
The 2018 program offers the chance to “Choose Your Own Adventure!” Pick the 24 CE you want from the Graduate Level in Representation and Tax Preparation Issues tracks, and receive the course materials from both tracks.
Did we mention we’ll have longer breaks this year
to allow for more networking and time in the exhibit hall?
Meet our Plenary Speaker!
Nina Olson was appointed National Taxpayer Advocate in January 2001. Throughout her career, she has advocated for the rights of taxpayers and for greater fairness and less complexity in the tax system.
Ms. Olson will be presenting this year’s plenary speech at the National Conference. She leads the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS), an independent organization inside the IRS that works for systemic change and helps taxpayers resolve problems with the agency. Her most recent Annual Report to Congress debuted a new publication, The Purple Book, which presents 50 legislative recommendations intended to strengthen taxpayer rights and improve tax administration. She’s an energetic speaker by anyone’s standards, and we expect her to touch on the importance of protecting taxpayer rights, the prospect of establishing minimum standards for return preparers, and/or urgent systemic challenges at IRS that are of particular interest or concern to the TAS.
Course Selection Options
National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI) tracks are only open to enrolled agents, CPAs, and tax attorneys. To become an NTPI Fellow, you must complete the levels in order.
Conference Tracks (Mon-Wed, 24 CE)
NOTE: The National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI) Levels 1, 2, 3 and the Graduate Level in Representation are only open to enrolled agents, CPAs, and tax attorneys. Tax Preparation Issues is open to all preparers.
* Level 2—a favorite among our National Conference attendees—offers real-life cases tackled in small groups, each individually led by an instructor. This level requires an additional $65 members/$75 non-members workshop fee to offset the cost of the printed workbook, enhanced A/V and long roster of instructors.
± CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE is available for those who want to build a custom track by selecting courses from the Graduate Level in Representation and Tax Preparation Issues tracks. Build your personal schedule of 24 CE between the two tracks and receive materials for both Grad and Tax Prep. There is a $120 program fee (in addition to the track registration fee) to Choose Your Own Adventure. Please note that you must pre-register for individual courses and no changes are permitted on-site.
NTPI Levels 1, 2, and 3 have a set schedule, and cannot be customized.
