Enrolled Agents are The Tax Preparer of Choice for NBC’s Today Show for a Second Year in A Row
The April 1st Call-in Features Only NAEA members
A cornerstone of NAEA’s communications strategy is expanding the public’s awareness and recognition of the enrolled agent license to position the enrolled agent as the tax professional of choice. One of the ways that we are achieving this is by continuing our relationship with The Today Show. Once again, NBC and NAEA have committed to the tax call-in show featuring NAEA members, and only NAEA members. The program is similar to the format that was used last year: Eight enrolled agents will be in the lobby of 30 Rockefeller Center on Wednesday, April 1 for all four hours of the show’s extended format, answering questions phoned in by America's taxpayers from all over the country.
Last year, six million American taxpayers saw EAs in action—with pencil in one hand, phone in the other, and smiles for the camera.
This year, NAEA will be well-represented by Frank Degen, EA, USTCP; Sherrill Gregory, EA, USTCP; David Hatt, EA; Jennifer MacMillan, EA; Sandra Martin, EA; David Mellem, EA; Diana Molina, EA; and Jack Wood, EA. Ray LaLuna, EA, serves as an alternate. We appreciate the ability and the willingness of these members to take time out of their busy schedule at this time of year to help all EAs put our best foot forward.
At the beginning of the first of many segments featuring Enrolled Agents, Jean Chatzky explained on air to Matt Lauer that enrolled agents are "... the only federally licensed tax specialists. They take exams, many enrolled agents have worked for the IRS ..." Later in the show, in another on-air comment, Jean Chatzky complimented our members: "It's very interesting that these enrolled agents are so on the ball when it comes to knowing exactly what information people need to know."
